Blog 10- Container Home

  This week we did not have a lesson, instead we met with our mentors and discussed our container projects. I plan on placing my container home in Holcombe, WI. It will be placed near the shoreline of the lake to get great views, which is why I chose my second precedent to more closely resemble. My second precedent has two stories and you can get a great view of the lake and surrounding greenery. The inside of my container home will have a similar layout with the entry, kitchen, living, and dining areas on the main floor. I also love how there are green accents throughout the entire home and the open staircase similar to that of the house that we visited.  Additionally, I think that the bathroom is really fun. The clawfoot tub is adorable, but I will definitely prioritize a shower as that is more practical for most people. Blog 9- Drawings and Renderings

(Precedent Study ) This week in class we talked about our Container Home Projects. We were shown examples of previous projects to help us to better understand the project and give us inspiration for our own house . The example showed both her presentation with renderings  and construction documents.   (Diagrams about container house) This week’s reading is chapter 9 in Sketching Interiors, which is titled, Freehand Sketching for Presentations. Some of the most common drawings that interior designers have to draw for their clients are floor plans, elevations, isometric drawings, and perspectives. These are usually drawn with markers and ink, combined with colored pencils.   When drawing you must make sure to add entourage to your renderings. This often includes plants, cars, or even people. Blog 8- Emphasis, Contrast, and Detail

Color Study This week in class we talked about Emphasis, Contrast, an d Detail.   Emphasis   Emphasis is the p urposeful development of dominant characteristics. It c reates hierarchy , creating focal points by artwork, furniture, lighting, etc. It creates a feeling of drama, balance, and personality of space.   Emphasis can be shown in interior design with color , texture, lighting, furniture, with a view, and architectural details.   Contrast   Cohesiveness is important in interior design, but too much blending creates a flat space. Contrast adds balance, by placing objects with opposing characteristics. Contrast uses different color s , shape s , size s , material s , texture s , or style s .   Details   Icing on the cake to make the space more interesting and personal. Blog 7- Contrast Scale

This week in class we continued to talk about the Principles of Design; Rhythm, Proportion, and Scale.   - Rhythm is when we arrange elements so there is a sense of repetition, progress, transition, or contrast. Rhythm is used to help enhance a space and direct our eyes around that space.     -- There are several different types of rhythm which include repetition, gradation, contrast, Transition, and Radiation.   --- Repetition is when something is repeated over and over, which creates stability .   ---Gradation is when something uniformly increases or decreases in size or color.   ---Contrast is when there is a when two objects are similar but diffe r in color, shape, or size which is seen as dynamic.   ---Transition is when something smoothly guides us to something that is different.   ---Radiation is when something revolves around a central axis.   -Proportion is when the size of objects fit together .   - Scale is h...
